Crushr - guitars, vocals and musical history with funny anecdotes

Biography:

Marco ‘Crushr’ Torres hails from the far-flung land of El Salvador.  His family immigrated to the San Francisco bay area in 1963.  There he was fed a steady diet of the most progressive music of the time.  Local acts like Santana, Grateful Dead and Jefferson Starship were early exposures to Crushr in his adolescence, often viewed in their natural habitats of Golden Gate and Dolores Parks or the Mission District where Crushr was raised.  As a boy, he studied classical guitar and mastered the fine art of fingernail maintenance.  In an environment filled with liberalism, free love and mind-expanding literature, Crushr developed a taste for extraordinary experiences.

As he matured, he opened his mind to the wonders of progressive rock, notably purveyed by bands such as, Genesis, Roxy Music and Eno.  The call of the electric guitar was too much, and he was forever hooked.  Unfortunately tragedy struck him in his prime and he was absorbed into a world wrought with time cards, ties and commuting schedules.  He was trapped in this nightmare for over 17 years with only the ability to listen to the music, but not play it.

Finally, one magical day, he found 'greenie'.  She was naked and strung up on the wall in a small music store in his neighborhood.  He took her in his arms and felt something so inspiring that he was released from the restraints of everyday life.  He took greenie home and fingered her constantly.  A barre chord, D chord minor or suspended, it made no difference that they played at all hours of the day and night in an orgy of musical delight.  Soon others joined in; Les, Martin, Paul Reed and ASAT became regular accompanists in this period of sonic decadence.  Big sound was achieved when Marshall and the Twins were incorporated into the mix.

After a few years of solitary stimulation, there was a desire to play in a group, a band if you will.  After several affairs with transitory relationships, Crushr and greenie met up with Wall of Shadows.
